Before accepting a client, we meet and talk about the guest's business using a document, "Are You Ready to Grow Your Business?"* that asks a number of introspective, thoughtful questions. We describe what we do, how we do it, and talk about previous engagements. We listen carefully to what the guest has to say and we interact, offering thoughts and suggestions. Throughout this process, we gauge whether we can help the company and if we cannot, we will not take the business.
 

If we can help, we discuss scope, costs, timing, and make a simple challenge: If you don't believe your investment will have a 50-to-1 return, don't engage us. "We want you to be so excited about what we can do to help you that you will put the maximum effort into helping us help you. You are the most valuable player in the engagement.
